This topic has been discussed some before but I think my request might be a little different. I play rhythm guitar with people who play primarily classic country, western swing, gospel and some old pop tunes. We don't tend to play bluegrass and very often any fiddle song, the pop and many of the vocals tend to be very "crooked" and difficult for the backup people. Often, the fiddle players will provide chord charts which they might toss into the center of the circle or they'll have multiple copies which they pass around to all interested. I've collected as many of these charts as I can and, as a novice guitar player, really see the value. Now that I'm a novice fiddle player, playing by ear, I don't really need a chart but want to provide them for those crooked songs which I am learning.
Sorry for that long-winded comment but..........what I find online and elsewhere are very few of these charts and most tend to be "old-time" fiddle tunes, most of which are not particularly crooked. I've seen the Pegram charts, 2 files which I found on this site. I also spoke with Ryan Thompson who once published a book but he described his book to me as "....a chord version of the "Fiddler's Fake Book." with 95% of the tunes being for dancing southern squares, Irish and Scottish dancing, english and contra dancing, etc.".
Is anyone out there aware of a book or other source of chord charts for the music I'm interested in?
Thanks for reading this and for any comments/thoughts !
Jim
